Well, a couple of things have happened and are happening as we move through May. We (Morgan, my co-producer and I ) had a production meeting with our director a few weeks ago. We've pushed the play back by 2months. See, while I don't have to worry about how to create a set for the world of the play, or how to costume something which moves so quickly it is almost cinematic, I do have to find the people who WILL be responsible for this. Morgan and I are starting to reach out to designers, asking them to look at the script and tell us how they would do it. Is the set it naturalistic? Representative? Yeah...so not my bag. We're shooting the pitch video for indiegogo on Monday, and last night I finally began the rewrites needed for a main character. The inspiration to start these changes has been frighteningly elusive till just this past week. A good thing it finally sparked as the director has asked for an informal reading so that he may hear the play in its entirety. Though I wrote the lead role for myself, I will be sitting this reading out because I, too, need to hear the script aloud. It was fun, picking out my 'Mara.' Morgan and I are also choosing a date for the next cabaret which folks have been pressing for. Hey, if there's a demand, it'd be silly for us not to meet it. More later.
After getting sick the day after the cabaret and sleeping on and off for the last week, we've got a production meeting with the director (who had never seen me act before and finally did at the cabaret. his comment? 'i'm so relieved!') which we're very excited about. We're muddling our way through creating an indiegogo campaign and have to make a 'pitch video' to sell ourselves and the play itself. Am reading up on how to do this in the most effective way! Beginning to research publicists, for not having one would be a grave error on our parts (thanks for the info, alex!). And every time I think I should take a nap, I realize there's more to be done. Like take pictures of the gray shirt and black shirt and post them to sell on this site. Oh, set up a paypal account. I need chocolate.
